Job Description

The Metabolomic-Proteomics Research Specialist will have a variety of tasks in the CIBC Systems Biology Core Facility, including but not limited to, preparing NMR and MS samples, running automated high-throughput NMR and MS screens, batch processing and interpretation of NMR and MS spectra, statistical analysis, automation of protocols, and other projects and duties as assigned. Extensive training will be provided. The Metabolomic-Proteomics Research Specialist will be a contact point and liaison for CIBC researchers interested in metabolomics and proteomics research.

Skill Requirements

Minimum Required Qualifications: Bachelor of Science or Arts degree in chemistry, biochemistry or related field plus 2 years of experience in one or more of the following areas: prokaryote, eukaryote or tissue culture preparation
metabolomics and/or proteomics sample preparation from various biological sources
nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR), or mass spectrometry (MS) required. Training will be provided, working with a variety of biological samples (e.g. pathogens, human tissue and fluids). Training will be provided in safety and other areas.
Preferred Qualifications: Master’s in science or arts degree in chemistry, biochemistry or related field preferred. Experience with chromatography techniques, multivariate or univariate statistics, or robotics/automation is highly desirable.
