NAIPI has been working together with Pine Biotech, a company that offers bioinformatics solutions, services and training, to organize a virtual symposium focused on advances in Omics technologies and bioinformatics. The omics research symposium brought together over 1,000 participants from all over the world and speakers from many universities, companies and organizations. This included our President, Dr. Konstantin Kousoulas, as well as Dr. Luis Vazquez from Puerto Rico INBRE and Dr. Nicole Gerrison from West Virginia INBRE.

The virtual research symposium is an opportunity for students, faculty and companies to come together and discuss advances in bioinformatics.

The discussion circled around a program NAIPI is developing for network-wide training in bioinformatics that can elevate biomedical research at any IDEA funded institution. The recorded videos are available below:

Dr. Gus Kousoulas from LBRN

Title – Data Science for Biological Data – a message for the National Association of IDeA Principal Investigators.

Dr. Nicole Garrison from WV INBRE

Title – The Next Generation of Bioinformatics Scientists: Building Expertise at a Primarily Undergraduate Institution.

Dr. Luis Vazquez Quinones from PR INBRE

Title- PR-INBRE Bioinformatics Training through the Community of Practice Model.
