Metagenomics & Microbial Communities – Dr. Christopher M. Taylor, LSU/ LBRNHSC – New Orleans

Dr. Taylor is an Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology, and Parasitology.

He is a founding member of the Microbial Genomics Resource Group and has built an informatics laboratory at the School of Medicine focused on microbial community sequencing, analysis, and visualization.

He was appointed in July 2016 as the Director of the Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, and Computational Biology Core of the Louisiana Biomedical Research Network (LBRN) and was awarded Tenure from LSUHSC-NO in 2017.

About the Webinar:

Dr. Christopher M. Taylor talks about some fundamental concepts of Metagenomics. The importance of the microbiome in human health has only recently been recognized. The communities of microbes are now believed to play an important role in the regulation of human health and disease.

About Sci-Omics Club:

Sci-Omics is an initiative taken by the students associated with Pine Biotech (OmicsLogic).

The goal of this club is to help students learn about bioinformatics research via group sessions, easy-to-take courses, debates, and discussions.

This club welcomes students from all fields of life sciences to come to meet together and learn from and with each other.
