COBRE Programs

COBRE stands for Centers of Biomedical Research Excellence. It is a National Institutes of Health (NIH) program administered through the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) as part of the Institutional Development Award (IDeA) initiative. COBRE builds research centers at specific institutions; emphasizes development of junior investigators within a center; focuses on a thematic biomedical research area; and has a research center and infrastructure development mission.
