Job Brief
The Interdisciplinary Forensic and Biomedical Sciences Lab (ForenBioS) at the Department of Chemistry and Environmental Science at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) is looking for a proactive and independent Post-doctoral Research Associate specialized in bioinformatics or closely related field. The researcher will work with the PI, Dr. Sara C. Zapico, and Dr. Alex Dytso, from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at NJIT, on interdisciplinary projects in the intersection between forensic and biomedical sciences, involving “-omics” data: genomics, transcriptomics, metagenomics, epigenomics (methylome), and proteomics. Additionally, the researcher will assist the PI in writing grants and reports; will publish high-quality peer-reviewed articles under the direction of the PI; and will supervise undergraduate and graduate students. The appointment will be for two years, ideally starting in September 1, 2022 with the possibility of extension through grants and other fellowships applications.
Job Responsibilities
– Post-doctoral Research Associate
– Proactive and independent researcher with strong motivation to pursue interdisciplinary research.
– Ph.D. in bioinformatics or closely related field, and/or
– Track record of peer-reviewed publications and experience in “-omics” data.
– At the university discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, and equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position.
Skill Requirements
Relevant experience in “-omics” data analysis, particularly, transcriptomics, metagenomics, and epigenomics.
