Role Summary:
The Data Sciences team at Dyne Therapeutics is seeking a bioinformatics co-op student to participate in research on innovative oligonucleotide therapeutics for rare neuromuscular disease. You will apply your computational skills to the engineering and analysis of data in our drug discovery programs. In partnership with biologists and platform scientists, you will work with complex multi-omics and preclinical data sets. Through the use of data transformation and visualization methods, you will enable insights about novel therapeutic strategies and their impact on disease. Through the course of the co-op, you will gain a broad understanding of a variety of experimental and bioinformatics research methods in therapeutic discovery and development.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Implementation of foundation bioinformatics analytical pipelines for next gene sequencing, biological sequence searching/clustering, etc.
- Management, integration, and visualization of preclinical data
- Implementation of research computing environment with a commercial cloud provider
- Prepare presentation on:
- Software systems developed for research data management and analysis
- Clustering and visualization of muscle-selective peptide sequences from phage display libraries
- Visualization of preclinical data
This role is located in Waltham, MA without the possibility of being remote.
Education and Skill Requirements:
- Undergraduate student in a related field, such as bioinformatics, applied mathematics, or computer science or equivalent experience
- Programming experience in R and/or Python; familiarity with code management and notebook IDE such as jupyter
- Understanding of relational databases, SQL, json, or other data management structures
- Strong organizational skills and solid written and oral communication ability
